  • Fascinating Flora / Denise Anderson

Do you like plants? Are you interested in biology (the science of living things)? If so, then this is the place for you! We're going to learn all about the many different types of plant life on Earth and even grow a few of our own! We'll study how plants evolved and learn how they are both similar and different to animal life with some fun experiments, a few plant-based crafts, some really silly games and even a few plant-dissections too! We'll grow plants of our very own using traditional soil, hydroponics and even a few alternative mediums too, like super-absorbent polymers instead of soil. We'll even attempt to grow plants alongside insects to see if we can help create symbiotic habitats. So if you're interested in learning more about plants, this is the place for you - no "green thumb" required!
  • Re-Fashionistas / Denise Anderson

For both boys and girls alike - learn to re-fashion common, every day items into exciting new things! Ever want to make something (like clothes or toys) completely out of duct tape? Or perhaps learn to craft your own stuffed animals or create original outfits to wear? If so, re-fashionistas is for you! We'll up-cycle (recycling an item into a whole new, better creation) all sorts of things into brand new, original works of usable/wearable art. Examples include creating puppets, toys and stuffed animals, making wallets, containers and bags and up-designing our own shoes, hats, jewelry, clothing and more all from recycled and repurposed goods. All projects offer customization for both boys' and girls' interests and no prior sewing or crafting experience is required.

  • Amazing Animals / Denise Anderson

Do you like animals? Do you like drawing and cartoons? Then this is the place for you! We're going to learn all about animals and make some simple, fun cartoons too! Every week we’ll learn all about a new animal - what they eat, what they look like as babies, where they live and what awesome qualities make them special. Then we’ll use Google Whiteboard to draw pictures of our animal friends on our computers (or mobile devices). Every week Miss Denise will take everyone’s drawings (and even some of your voices too) and turn them into a short group animation to share at the beginning of the next week. (They’ll also be posted to our Amazing Animals Drive too, in case you want to download them.) You can choose whether you want to tell a silly story about your animal, or if you want to show us a true, cool fact about them in animated form. No special skills are necessary, just access to our Google Meet and Whiteboard via a computer or mobile device. We will be opening the next session to K students - please note that this class involves reading aloud and using technology to draw independently.
