Poetry & Pictures/Rachel Pearl
How pictures tell stories! In Poetry & Pictures we will make collages, comics, paintings and drawings inspired by poetry, which Alan Ginsburg understands as writing that makes pictures. What kind of painting can you make out of the words Giraffe, Tire Swing, Wind and Wish? How about Lion, Snow, Blue and Running?! Sometimes we will start with words for inspiration and other times ready images to collage-- if the furniture in your living room could talk, what would it say? We will think about ecosystems. We will ask questions of our work like who, what, when, where and why? We will make work with our senses: smell, taste, touch, hearing and sight. Art is detective work! Using principles of visual and poetic composition, we will investigate how great pictures are made alive by the stories they tell. -
